When we opened our mithai shop, we wanted to not only bring back the traditional mithai but also that of namkeen. After all, you can’t visualise any sweet shop without a side of namkeen. We decided to extend our philosophy of old school nostalgia to our range of namkeen. Currently in our savoury repertoire we have three namkeen flavours that if you ask us is the best namkeen in India. It has a touch of the old and that of the new!
Our first ever namkeen at Bombay Sweet Shop was the Chilli Cheese Bhujia. Inspired by the evergreen combination of chilli and cheese is this namkeen. Besan Bhujia is fried golden brown and tossed in a house-made spice mix of chilli and cheese. Each bite has a fiery kick!
Next up is our Chatpata Kairi Mixture. Don’t we all have memories of eating slices of raw mango coated with that quintessential chilli salt seasoning? We wanted to recreate that flavour in a mixture with all our favourite snacks giving rise to the best namkeen in India. Our Chatpata Kairi Mixture has sev, murmura, cheeselings. Each ingredient is made separately and then tossed in a chatpata kairi seasoning. Last up is our Peri Peri Salli. Salli is thin slices of potato that are golden fried. We decided to add a spicy twist to ours by tossing it in a Peri Peri dressing.
