Best Diwali Mithai and Sweets
The festival of Diwali is one that is celebrated with utmost grandeur and extravagance. It marks the beginning of a new year and we in India leave no stone unturned when it comes to celebrating it. While everyone in India has a slightly different style of celebrating the festival of lights, there are certain fundamentals that remain the same. From the simple annual rituals like cleaning our homes and adorning our windows with twinkling lights to the rituals we love the most, like shopping and redecorating the house, there are so many facets that make Diwali the special festival that it is. The entire city glistens with vibrance and the air is absolutely festive. The one aspect that we love the most though during this time of the year is the abundance of food and sweets! Mithai plays an integral role in Diwali celebrations. Right from all the handmade traditional Diwali mithai made at home like Karanji, Puran Poli and Laddus to all your Diwali mithai must haves that you pick up from your favourite neighborhood Sweet Shop like Kaju Katlis, Dry Fruit Barfis and Farsan, there’s enough and more for the mithai lover during Diwali!
This year, Bombay Sweet Shop is here to make sure you have everything you need for a bigger, brighter Diwali! Staying true to our ethos of reviving old-fashioned sweetness, our Mithai Magicians are making sure there’s an assortment of our most festive Diwali mithai for the classic lovers and for those who love to experiment! For our third Diwali at Bombay Sweet Shop, we have some returning favourites from last year and some new showstoppers.
Our Diwali Mithai box this year has a delicious amalgamation of classic sweets and reimagined treats. First up is the Pista Khubani Jim Jam Barfi . This mithai has been inspired by the jim jam biscuit made with rich pista peda filled with a house-made apricot jam. Next up is the Anjeer Chocolate Roll. No Diwali is complete with Kaju sweets and this Diwali mithai is made by filling kaju roll with anjeer and chocolate, rolling it like a swiss roll and coating it with poppy seeds. We couldn't imagine a Diwali Mithai box without dry fruits and our Vegan Power Barfi is packed with abundance. A no refined sugar mithai made with jaggery, dates, mixed nuts and seeds, coconut sugar and coated with puffed amaranth. Laddus are a festive given and our halwais reimagined the Doodh Boondi Laddu in a rangeela form with colourful boondi held together with cashew nuts, pista and malai. This year we brought back two Diwali favourites - our Dodha Barfi and Badam Paak. The Dodha Barfi is a festive favourite from the North West Frontier - our version with an orange twist. And lastly our Badam Paak, an almond cardamom twist on the Diwali legend - the Mysore Paak.
And this is just Diwali mithai - we also sweet treats for that additional Diwali sugar rush! Indian jujubes inspired by Karachi Halwa, Indian Cookies and Toffee Butterscotch Cookies for Diwali tea-time, Bombay Bhel Chikki made with our favourite snacks and Super Crunch Chikki made with a plethora of nuts and seeds, our Bombay’s 3-Layer Chocolate Fudge and Parle-G Fudge for all that chocolatey goodness and our best-selling Choco Butterscotch Barks and Chai Biscuit Choco Barks.
Did you really think our offerings would end with just Diwali mithai? Remember we said we are here to make Diwali bigger and brighter for you? Our team is also making trays of fresh farsan for that dose of savoury to balance out all the sweet!
