We can quite easily say that Christmas is probably the most anticipated time of year for most of us! While school kids are thrilled to welcome their winter break, grown ups start gearing up for all the celebrations that the holiday season brings. The city starts to feel awfully whimsical with that nip in the air, the brightly lit streets, the caroling and the festive spirit that envelopes every little lane in Bombay.
Offices are extra festive during this time of year too. The holiday spirit kicks in and meeting rooms become secret santa headquarters, cafeterias are filled with mistletoes and merry and the memo of every day is to be extra jolly! Christmas is also the perfect occasion for corporate gifting, making sure employees, suppliers, clients and partners have a sweet end to a wonderful year and Christmas sweets a rather integral part of this.
Every community that celebrates Christmas has such a unique gamut of sweets prepared during this time in various parts of the country. From neighbourhood bakeries to friend’s homes, these festive sweets give you the opportunity to explore lesser known treats that have been around for as long as we can remember.
The East Indian community in Bombay brings in Christmas with Fruit Cake, Kul Kuls, Neurie, Date Rolls and more. While the Christian community in Goa set up a sweet spread of treats like Guava cheese, Marzipan, and Walnut fudge. In Kerala, homes are decked with soft Neyappam, Rose Cookies and fudgy Halwa.
At Bombay Sweet Shop, our philosophy has always been to showcase the sheer diversity of India’s sweets category and to launch collections that highlight classics with a reimagined take and also lesser known sweets that are made in different parts of the country that are not as popular. Needless to say we curate corporate gifting hampers keeping this very aspect in mind too.
For our Christmas collection this year we’ve launched a box with our most loved winter bakery treats. The box contains Chocolate Rummy Balls inspired by two of our favourite bakery sweets, jammy swiss rolls and rum balls. This treat in fact made it to this year’s collection as well. Our version is made with eggless chocolate cake, cherry jam, rum essence all rolled up. Another returning favourite is Nana’s Coconut Ice. Inspired by the old school coconut candy, our recipe for this traditional confection has been borrowed from our sous chef’s grandma. We put a zingy spin on it with lemon zest and adorned it with tinsel in the form of silver jain friendly warq. Lastly, we have a Spiced Caramel Bon Bon made with chocolate truffle filled with a spiced chocolate caramel, wrapped with lal peda and sprayed with chocolate dust. These three Christmas sweets are available as our Christmas Treats Box 9 or 18 dressed in our wonderful festive Christmas sleeves.
In addition to this, our Barks have also gone through a holiday makeover. Our Christmas version of this classic brittle is made with chocolate butterscotch, peppermint and crunchy pecan!
This year for Christmas, we are launching a new cookie too as a part of our Indian cookie range! Inspired by our favourite buttery chocolate chip cookie is our Chocolate Butter Cookie. Made with refined flour, lots of butter and decadent chocochip chips, this cookie is going to make tea time extra sweet with your warm cup of milk and the winter breeze!

You can be a Secret Santa by Secret Santa Christmas Hamper with this year’s indulgent treats, our Christmas Treats hamper with our most festive confections and Magic of Christmas Hamper with a little bit of everything.
