At Bombay Sweet Shop, we firmly believe that self-care starts with the tummy! We all have those handful of sweet treats that lift our spirits instantly. So while designing our magical mithai menu, we decided to introduce popular Indian and Western confectionery and give them the magical Bombay Sweet Shop touch.
Sweet and savoury chikkis, Halwa-inspired jujubes, melt-in-your-mouth Nankhatai and irresistible Chocolate Butterscotch Barks are just a few of the confectionery that make up the Sweet Treats menu at Bombay Sweet Shop. As you probably figured, much like the rest of the menu, our confectionery is also inspired by the shared, sweet memories of many of our childhoods. Whether it was the pieces of halwa and chikki that got passed around during train journeys or the buttery nankhatai our parents and grandparents enjoyed with their chai, our confectionery is packed with memories, old and new!
Let us explain! Travel in India is incomplete without snacks. Whether it’s a short flight or a long-train journey, we need our trusted sweet and savoury snacks for every trip. The quick bhel pitstops, packets of sev and chakli and slabs of chikki completed every trip. Our Everything Chikki is a homage to travel across India. We took a full-sized slab of Chikki and packed it with jaggery, sugar, seeds, chakli, salli, sev, chips, ghatia and bhel to make a confectionery that will be your trusted friend on your next travel!
Long before we were munching on gummy bears, we had halwa! Those glistening cubes of sticky orange confectionery, filled with a variety of seeds, that were always overly indulgent but also hard to resist!
One of the most popular Indian sweet treats is the halwa! That sinful confectionery filled with nuts that you just can’t get enough of. Now, there are many varieties of halwa but there’s one that intrigued us more than others. The Karachi Halwa is that bright, chewy orange halwa filled with slivers of nuts that many of us enjoyed on train journeys, visits to the zoo and even during festivals. We noticed a semblance between the Karachi Halwa and a popular confectionery that kids and adults alike, love. So we sprinkled some of the magic of mithai and created bite-sized pieces that look just like everyone’s favourite sour candy. Indian Jujubes are never too far from Indian Cookies. Nankhatai, is that melt-in-your-mouth buttery cookie that kids and adults all adore and is just the perfect accompaniment to tea or coffee. We baked our gluten-free Indian cookies to bring out the same richness that we have all enjoyed growing up, then dusted it with icing sugar and packed it in tin containers to give you that extra hit of nostalgia!
Arguably, the most magical and decadent of all sweet treats is chocolate! You can eat it as is, make a fountain out of it, dip your favourite fruits in it and it’ll continue to wow you. We have learned that one of your favourite ways to enjoy chocolate is the famous Chocolate Butterscotch Barks at Bombay Sweet Shop. We made a thin brittle with a layer of butterscotch in between and topped it with nuts to make a confectionery so irresistible that some of us place little servings of it all around the house! The perfect size to satiate all your little chocolate cravings. Whenever we are in an indulgent mood, we grab a spoon and dig into Bombay’s 3 Layer Fudge. Inspired by the memories of indulging in fudge on the way back from Lonavla, Bombay’s 3 Layer Fudge is an homage to this decadent confectionery. First, we take the beloved peanut chikki and fold it with dark chocolate ganache to create the nutty, creamy core of the fudge. Next, we sandwich it between two layers of dark chocolate to make it a bit more indulgent. And finally, our 3 layer fudge is topped with a peanut cashew tuille for the extra bit of decadence.
All of us have a layered chocolate bar we love! Whether it’s Twix, Snickers, Mars or Bounty, each one of these have layers that bind together to create a flavour bomb we keep going back for. While reimagining Indian mithai, we decided to reimagine the layered chocolate bar with some Indian elements. In came, patissa! A thicker version of Soan Papdi with the same chewy texture we all love. To this, we add layers of coconut fluff and peppery caramel before hand-dipping it in chocolate and topping it with gold dust to make our Coconut Caramel Patissa.
